D-TRUST GmbH, based in Berlin, was founded at the end of 1998 and is a 100% subsidiary of Bundesdruckerei GmbH. Approximately 30 qualified employees and specialized partners are charged with developing new solutions using high-security technology in the digital signature environment, and to marketing them in Germany as well as all over Europe. D-TRUST GmbH has been pointed out as the first German signature provider for qualifying operations of regulated public authorities of postal and telecommunications after the new signature laws were put into effect. The notification was published on 10/22/2002 by the regulated public authorities for postal and telecommunications. Since 3/8/2002, D-TRUST has been active as an accredited signature provider (licensed by the RegTP).
D-TRUST offers comprehensive consultation regarding digital signatures to enterprises and public authorities as well as complete service provisions for trust centers.
D-TRUST directs its entire trust center operation toward the maintenance of international standards, and it cooperates with partners that also fulfill these standards. In cooperation with the Nuremberg remote access specialists NCP Engineering GmbH, D-TRUST offers VPN solutions and personal certificates. The certificates come into use here for authenticating licensed users of an enterprise-wide network. Equipped with the appropriate access rights, the user can use the D-TRUST certificate worldwide as needed to access their company network with high security from a branch network or stationary/mobile on their desktop, notebook, laptop or PDA over any desired public network. All information is tunneled and transmitted in encrypted form. Glimpses or attacks to the data connection from the outside are not possible. Integration of this security solution is possible in every existing Wide Area Network (WAN), without the requirement for changes to the configuration of already installed internetworking components.
