For more than 15 years, NCP Secure Enterprise VPN has been an integral part of the German Federal Employment Agency's IT infrastructure. Its stable operation over this extended period demonstrates the value of a solution that delivers reliable performance while continuously evolving to meet changing requirements.

The Challenge

The German Federal Employment Agency (BA) needed to provide employees with secure and reliable remote access to the corporate network. Its existing dial-up solution was limited by the available transmission technologies and no longer met the growing requirements of modern mobile working.

Project Goals

The goal was to provide a large number of remote workplaces with provider-independent internet access, free dial-up services, and mobile connectivity (such as GPRS and UMTS), all protected by a highly secure enterprise VPN. At the same time, the solution needed to be intuitive to use, highly scalable, and centrally managed while ensuring comprehensive platform and endpoint security.

  • Future-proof, provider-independent internet access, free dial-up services, and mobile connectivity (e.g. GPRS, UMTS)
  • Easy and intuitive operation with automatic detection of the available connection type
  • High scalability for a growing number of remote workplaces
  • Comprehensive platform and endpoint security
  • Centrally managed remote access

The Solution

As a public institution, the German Federal Employment Agency selected its VPN solution through a formal public tender process. NCP Secure Enterprise VPN successfully met the agency's technical and security requirements and demonstrated its capabilities during comprehensive functionality testing. The solution was then deployed alongside the existing infrastructure, enabling a smooth and gradual migration through automated installation scripts. The implementation is based on NCP Secure Enterprise VPN Server and Secure Enterprise Management (SEM). The VPN Server authenticates users, establishes secure VPN tunnels, and manages encrypted communication between remote endpoints and the corporate network. Secure Enterprise Management (SEM) serves as the central management platform, enabling administrators to automatically deploy client configurations and software updates while consistently enforcing security policies across all managed endpoints.
